"Connecting Health and Education to Improve Child Wellbeing"
The 2025 Leong Centre Symposium, Connecting Health and Education to Improve Child Wellbeing, took place on Thursday, October 9 at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.
This full-day event brought together people working across the health and education sectors to explore how equity-focused research can drive better outcomes for all children. We were joined by keynote speaker Jean Twenge, psychologist, researcher, and author known for her work on generational differences, mental health trends, and the impact of technology and social media on young people. The plenary talk was delivered by Nancy Naylor, former Deputy Minister of Education and former Associate Deputy Minister of Health for Ontario, who spoke about education policy and the critical role of schools in supporting child wellbeing.
Through plenary talks, breakout sessions, poster presentations, and moderated discussions, the symposium highlighted innovative tools, data, and interventions aimed at improving child wellbeing.
