U of T professor and Canada Research Chair in Population Health Equity becomes inaugural Edwin S.H. Leong Chair in Child Policy Research

PLEASE MEET THE INAUGURAL EDWIN S.H. LEONG CHAIR IN CHILD POLICY RESEARCH

Dr. Arjumand Siddiqi is the inaugural Edwin S.H. Leong Chair in Child Policy Research at the Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Children, a child health equity-focused research centre at the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children. She also holds a Senior Scientist appointment at the SickKids Research Institute.

Arjumand Siddiqi is a Social Epidemiologist. She is Professor and Division Head of Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, where she holds the Canada Research Chair in Population Health Equity. She also holds cross appointments in Public Policy and  Sociology at the University of Toronto, as well as adjunct appointments at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Gillings School of
Global Public Health, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

Dr. Siddiqi’s research centers on understanding how and why health inequalities change over time. She uses novel methodologies to test the impact of policies and other societal conditions on population health and health inequalities, including children and their families. Dr. Siddiqi also engages with local-to-global governmental and non-governmental entities.

In 2022, Dr. Siddiqi was awarded the Mid-Career Trailblazer Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute for Population and
Public Health. Dr. Siddiqi received her doctorate from Harvard University.
