SPEAKER:

Sobia Khan is the Director of Implementation at The Center for Implementation and an award-winning global expert on how to practically implement complex interventions in complex systems. For over 20 years, her passion for integrating multiple fields such as implementation science, systems thinking, and social network theory to achieve large-scale change has been illustrated through her work on multiple implementation projects.

TITLE: Implementation Science 101: What Is It and How Can I Use It?

DESCRIPTION:

Have you been wondering what implementation science (IS) is and how you can apply it to your work?  This introductory workshop will provide a practical foundation in IS, including how it can benefit your work, and how it can be applied in both research and practice. Dr. Khan will specifically describe The Center for Implementation's approach to IS, which is centred on equity, relationship-based, and requires meaningful engagement to make meaningful change. The session will also highlight how IS is needed to understand scale and policy change. Designed for those new to the field, this session will support participants to start applying IS approaches in their own work while contributing to stronger implementation capacity.

OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this event, participants will:

  • Understand what implementation science is and how it applies to diverse types of work in research and practice.
  • Describe approaches to implementation science that are human and relationship centred.
  • Describe the potential impacts of applying implementation science, including scale and policy impact.
